You would have thought gay men would find more empathy for the racial issue.
Hi, Jeremy, I agree with Daniella, you're a good writer:)
But seriously, I'm taken aback again and again, how some gay men don't seem to have any mercy when it comes to race. (I'm not so familiar with gay girls and their stance on racism).
If anyone should understand how heartbreaking hate is just because you seem different for some reason, it's the LGBTQ community, right?
When I moved from Germany to communist Yugoslavia when I was seven, I was called a Nazi. Kids are stupid and cruel and they thought they were being funny. But the hate hit me like a brick. But it made me more compassionate towards anyone who had to go through such BS.
I can't IMAGINE what black people have to endure. My husband tried to explain, given that he's mixed raced, but what do I know in the end? Nothing really.
Well, maybe the fact that I'm a woman...that seems to be a cross of its own, LOL.
All I know is that sex is a private matter and as long as it's between two consenting adults, who cares who does what? I certainly don't. No one actually has the right to even comment on it. But I guess people seem bored and need to find something to bitch about, so they look for targets because then they don't have to focus on their own pathetic lives.
I'm sorry - any truly happy person is not a hateful person. Anyone cultivating so much hate...there must be something wrong in their life.
And when it comes to people from different cultural backgrounds, again, I don't get it. All I care about is if you're kind and respectful. And to be honest, when I first saw my husband's photo, it grabbed my attention far more than anyone else. It wasn't just his handsome unique features, but those beautiful hands and those intelligent eyes. But yes, he's super cute, so I end up staring at him every day, not believing how lucky I am!
Other people, especially white people, are truly missing out by excluding others. Absolutely their loss! To hell with them, Jeremy.
And I'm truly sorry that you have to deal with this stuff.
It seems that the internet has made those idiots extra brasen and brave in their open hate towards others. They seem to go out of their way to make SURE you know what their stance is. "OK, fine, we get it, you're an ignorant gigantic moron!" you could write back to such a person.
But you and your friend seem to be better than that, not feeding into their drama and staying away from it. Kudos!
I still wonder - how could we end racism once and for all?
I hope you're enjoying the sun! I miss it so much!!! The UK is now cold and rainy most days. But I keep reminding myself, there is always sun somewhere, like in my beloved Mexico or in South Africa. Where I've never been! I have plenty of friends from there, I really hope to be able to see South Africa one day.
