“Preservation of one’s own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures.”... THANK YOU!!!

And yet the West felt the strong need to destroy Yugoslavia because heaven forbid that there would be happy people in a system that is...wait for it...oh no, she didn't...communist.

But the West had no idea what communism meant. At least in Yugoslavia.

Our culture got erased because it was hated from afar, without even understanding it.

Now Slovenia is left only with the bitter bits of our own culture which of course we have, a culture of serfdom. Being part of Yugoslavia freed us from that for a brief moment and gave us more solidarity and independence within the cooperation of 6 different countries. Suddenly we had a say, we were important, we were equals and had the opportunity to grow.

But we wanted to be 'independent' which only gave those couple of greedy politicians the chance to ruin the country as soon as we left Yugoslavia.

Countries need to think hard before they want to leave a bigger union.

We need each other. We are stronger together.

Slovenia was complaining about working so hard and providing 50% of the state budget. Sure, true. But as we left Yugoslavia, we also lost our market. The WEST wasn't interested in our products, duh. And now we are trying to rebuild that market.

My message would be the same to Basque and Catalonia in Spain - stay together. No one is forbidding you your language. If anything, you are richer as long as you are within Spain. You have the market. You can help each other.

Governing yourself, if you don't have a history of having being on your own before, then a new country will act like a teenager who suddenly is alone at home, left with all the house, the car, all the money, but no healthy habits of SELF CONTROL. So they abuse it, of course, what else did we expect?

Within Yugoslavia, each country would take turns to govern the whole entity. But guess what? It had 5 other countries looking at it and monitoring it.

It seems that independence and ruling others without that monitoring control entity HAS to lead to abuse of power because it's in our human nature to be greedy selfish bastards (with far too many exceptions like Barak Obama).

So until we have found a way to make us silly humans actually HUMAN, as in - graceful, generous, patient, educated, honourable, transparent, honest, accountable, with integrity, KIND (for heaven's sake!) - until then, we seem to need control instances.

Our recent leaders of the UK and US have shown us just that. Or maybe they were just stupid enough to make it VERY obvious while others managed to lie to us better. Who knows...

In the game of thrones, no one seems to be innocent.

As Superman said:"This world will never let you keep your hands clean."
