My experience with Amazon as a writer
As someone who has tried to use Amazon as a seller, I can only say, given that Bezos has a degree in computer science, he has a horribly bad platform. A platform which doesn’t really give a crap about its sellers, proper service etc. That’s just what I can say myself first-hand when I tried to sell my art prints as a photographer some years ago. Frustrating as hell.
Another experience I’m making is now as a writer. Without the knowledge of someone who’s quite an expert in typesetting your book at the end, you will experience a lot of problems loading up your book. So yes, invest in a good typesetter. The more successful a book is, the more Amazon pushes it. What’s so great about that please? If you have a series of books, then your promotions might work. But what if your book stands alone? How to promote it then? Because believe me, as your book is new on the market, not only does it need as many real reviews as possible (or Amazon will completely ignore it), it needs a lot of marketing.
